Let’s Be Real: Candid Moments of 2014

With my weddings coming to end for 2014 (I still get to shoot one more in December!), I love looking back on each couple I have gotten to capture.  The moments, the laughter, kisses, and glances.  Yet, some of my favorite photos are the ones that are never posed.  A story that is told in one single snapshot.  A moment that you just can’t recreate.  So follow me through my favorite moments from this past year…and the stories they told.

This is from the very first wedding that kicked off 2014. Kelley was the bride’s maid of honor…and you can’t get a more genuine smile of joy then this girl.

Before Bill, the pastor, even pronounced that Sarah & Chris were officially married….this groom was cheering.

During Katie & Matt’s wedding there were many tears of joy.  Plus, you know it’s an emotional moment when you look over and catch the father of the groom wiping away a tear.  Of course it all ended with these two basically dancing down the aisle.

I remember this moment when Samantha’s dad was giving his toast.  I don’t remember the words spoken, but I sure do remember this bride went from laughter to a bit of embarrassment.   But those are the best toasts, right?

Throughout the entire reception of Samantha & Doug, we had some “rowdy” groomsmen who liked to cheer…like for anything that occurred.  I’m pretty sure that’s what was happening during their first dance.

This flower girl could not have been more precious.  Usually little kids won’t stand still during a ceremony, but it looked like she was paying attention to every word.

Sarah & Tom got married on a golf course.  After we drove around to grab some shots of these two, we headed back to the reception…oh, and of course made some time for a little golf cart off roading.

The bride handed me her present to give to the groom and said that she wanted to make sure people were around when he opened it.  Yeah…he got iced, and every single one of those groomsmen loved it.

Whether you decide to do a first look or not, maybe this will sway you.  The moment Nate saw Emily for the very first time, with no one around, was beautiful.  And he still managed to tear up when she walked down the aisle not more than an hour later.

Catching this special moment, with their backs turned to their guests, while these two took communion as husband & wife.

JamieBethPhotography_0012

The bride’s sister walked along side her as Addie was just moments from seeing her groom for the first time that day.  Even a little bit of rain wouldn’t take away that smile.

JamieBethPhotography_0013

Then another joyful moment when Addie’s dad turned around to see his daughter.  This was by far the best father/daughter moment I had all year.

JamieBethPhotography_0018

The flower girls walking down the aisle…all is normal, but then the little blonde one decides she needs to do some clean up.  She stops in her tracks, looks back and proceeds to pick up all the petals she just dropped.  All the guests were cracking up.

Kelsey had just gotten her dress on and I told her mom to take a look at her beautiful daughter….right then Kelsey’s emotions caught up to her and she made the whole room get teary eyed.

JamieBethPhotography_0028

This is my favorite shot of on of my bride’s walking down the aisle.  As soon as Kelsey rounded the corner, emotions took over (do you see a theme here?) and she couldn’t even look up.  Her step dad, who has been a fantastic father to Kelsey, walked her down the aisle.  It’s like you can almost see him holding her arm a little tighter in this moment.

This was during the toasts from Kelsey’s parents.  The way Tyler is looking at his beautiful bride is pure joy.

I love when bridesmaids see their best friend in her wedding dress.  These bridesmaids instantly captured it from the door.

This was during Kate & James’ first dance.  It makes me smile and get teary eyed every time I see it.  Such a special moment between these two.

JamieBethPhotography_0016

I like when my brides & grooms laugh.  It’s my favorite.

JamieBethPhotography_0017

This moment says it all of what a mother of the bride feels on her daughter’s wedding day.

JamieBethPhotography_0019

I have never seen a son hug his father more deeply during a ceremony.

JamieBethPhotography_0021

Kids do the darndest things.

The looks Madison & Bobby continually gave to each other during their ceremony were priceless.

JamieBethPhotography_0025

A special moment between a daughter and her dad.

JamieBethPhotography_0027

Remember how I told you I love when my brides & grooms laugh?  This final one I leave you with portrays that so well.  Madison’s brother was marrying them and Bobby had just said his vows.  Then her brother quickly said the vows, so fast, it gave no time for Madison to repeat them to Bobby (obviously on purpose, and a little sibling fun).  Laughter followed.
